Electric Aggregation Rates Announced With Future Plans to Integrate Solar
The Southern Illinois Aggregation Partnership (SIAP) has executed new opt-out municipal electric aggregation agreements with Homefield Energy that will begin in December 2023. The new rate of $.08473 will be effective in December.
Communities within the SIAP have been participating in aggregation for a decade, with annual savings averaging 20% compared to Ameren’s Basic Generation Service rates for electric supply. The SIAP’s electric consultant, AGE, expects those kinds of savings to continue over the long term.
“This contract renewal is the first step in expanding our long-term strategies to enhance our electric aggregation programs,” stated Jeff Haarmann, Managing Director of AGE. “Behind the scenes our team is continuing to work on an innovative strategy to incorporate solar energy into our aggregation programs as a way to limit exposure to volatile energy markets and further grow savings for residents in Southern Illinois.”
Residents and eligible small businesses currently participating in their municipal electric aggregation program, and those residents and eligible small businesses currently receiving their electric supply from Ameren’s Basic Generation Service, will receive an opt-out letter from Homefield Energy beginning on October 13th with details of the new rate secured. Those who wish to continue to participate in their community’s municipal electric aggregation program should do nothing with this opt-out letter. At the end of the 21-day opt-out period, Homefield Energy will automatically enroll accounts on to the new fixed electric aggregation rate.
Residents who are currently participating in the program but choose to opt-out may be subject to Ameren’s minimum stay requirements.
Ameren IL will continue billing residents who participate in the aggregation program with the supply section of the bill reflecting Homefield Energy as the electric supplier. The electric delivery charges and taxes/other fees sections of the bill will remain unchanged. Any electric outages or billing questions should be directed to Ameren IL.
